Originally purchased by myself in 1985 I am the 6th owner since 1975 the car was used at weekends and when possible due to me spending the majority of my time away in the Royal Navy. I was at the Duxford Lotus show 1988 when I was asked if I would like the car to be used for the 40th Anniversary Poster. Whilst on the way to Hethel the cylinder head gasket gave up and I completed the journey courtesy of the AA. Lotus cars arranged the return of the car to the Midlands from where it was organised to go to Daytune at Cambridge for the required repairs. The car was their for 6 years due to the unavailability of a replacement cylinder head. I collected the car and returned to Cornwall where I now live. I was sent away with the Navy and on my return I found the clutch had seized apart from my efforts to ensure this did not happen. The car since then has remained garaged full of good intentions until now. At present the engine has been removed and the clutch freed, the cylinder head requires reskimming as a few pits have been found in it. The dilemma at present is do I get it roadworthy, or do I go for a complete restoration?
